A 'knock of opportunity' for artists, a knock of Hindi at Singapore’s theatre doorstep and DASTAK was born. Disrupt the traditional format – so instead of one play lets have 10, why one director when we can bring together 10, from 1-2 hour play format to 10 short plays of 10 minutes each – the idea evolved. The structure of a festival was right in front of our eyes. There is a great pool of local talent we can tap into now in Singapore and the Indian diaspora is missing a Prithvi type experience – affordable, enjoyable, local shows. I remember saying “It has been years since we did a play in Hindi. On a lazy evening over a cuppa, a bunch of us theatre enthusiasts (now the DASTAK organising team) were discussing Hindi theatre and reminiscing of everyone’s early days in theatre. A creative idea can’t be held back for long, DASTAK is one such idea that took seed in 2015. Launch of DASTAK in Singapore – Singapore’s first and only Hindi theatre festival - was launched in 2016. The aesthetic made me realize that if God alone shaped these majestic things, how special we are, since we were the most important in all His creations. I almost cry aloud when I thought how Great God is. The mountain was still full of green tall trees and the ocean behind us was said to be a part of the Pacific ocean. The temperature wasn’t that high that time that’s why we really enjoyed our climb. It actually made my breathe away! Believe me, my tears fell when I saw how beautiful and wonderful the scene was when we reached the peak of the second mountain (which was my favorite also), the so-called “Batanes of the East”. But even though my heart almost fell on my soles, the mountain view did not disappoint me. It took us almost 30 minutes climbing the two famous mountains in Aurora. It took us about 25 minutes riding a boat from the island where we’re staying in to the white beach resort, and so we’re welcomed by an abundance of jellyfish. We did not actually went there for swimming, but for mountain climbing. I and my fellow youths together with our youth leader also did not let the day passed without even visiting the famous white beach resort in Dingalan.
